INTERVIEWER:  As far as cultural differences between Americans and Filipinos.  There is one particular thing  that Americans don’t quite understand and that they may be shocked or offended about when they come to the Philippines, and that’s the Filipino custom of dog eating.  Is it legal here in the Philippines?  Or will it be legal, say, for a tourist to come over and wanting to be a part of that custom to eat dog?
PULIG:  Custom that we eat dog?
INTERVIEWER:  Yes
PULIG:  What, what, what, what… Ano ibig mong sabihin? (What do you mean?)
INTERVIEWER:  Is it… is dog eating a normal custom here?
PULIG:  Some... because that’s part of the customary procedures.
INTERVIEWER:  Alright, it’s just… it’s not normal in America.  So some Americans come over and they’re shocked. Yeah.  So I’m saying, is it a normal thing?  Is it legal for, you know, for like Americans who want to come over and eat dogs?
PULIG:  Here ah… there are some _____ some of the people here, the youth has their customary _____ for butchering dog.
INTERVIEWER:  Okay.  So it’s not against the law or anything like that?
PULIG:  There is a law against it but…

PULIG:  Not being somewhat enforced.
INTERVIEWER:  Okay.
